Firing Squad: March 10, 2009

Both photos in this week’s battle use off camera flash to it’s full effect without being overpowering. This week is about man made skate style snowboarding vs. on-hill skate style snowboarding. It’s still pretend skateboarding, you just decide which is less lame.

Well Sir Manhands, the fact that it’s been published previously shouldn’t mean a thing since it’s not one mag’s content vs another’s. It’s this photo vs that photo. And, since the loyal visitors of this site decide the winner and not DaKine, there’s no real conflict of interest.

Handplants will never go out of style, they are both sick photos but I dig the gel in photo 2, it adds a nice cold contrasty feel

i like the homepage format where the shots we stacked side by side. this was a good battle, and in future ones, side by side would help, as i had to bounce back and forth before choosing shot 1 for its……. panoramic mountain sunset landscape, smooth lighting, and smooth riding.
2 is hyphy and i like it too. im pretty sure it isone of the sickest skatepark handplant photos ive ever seen. the blue and yellow look way good together, and i like the shape of the bowl. the yellow stipe on the coping is a dope bonus too.

The dude Sean above used the word hyphy.. Ha snow dudes are funny. Can’t spell, they speak Yetty ebonics(I don’t know how, none of you are from anywhere ghetto if you can afford snowboarding these days), and none are actually that cool unless they come from a skateboard background…
I voted 1 for photo quality.. but I’d rather see number 2 in a mag..

what is a pro photographer these days? anyone with a point & shoot camera. plus college is for untalented rich kids (for the most part). but i am stoked to see a kid beating a pro photographer any day. pros sending in already published shots, hahaha. so weak! scratching and clawing to survive amongst the young blood.
i love how everyone already knows the names of these photographers/riders. i need to get into the snow scene.
