K Brake: The Hottest Thing Since the Leash

Since it’s actually winter down under, those crazy Aussies are putting their brains to good use and coming up with majorĀ  “innovations” for the sport of snowboarding. Our friends at AGoodReed alerted us to the K Brake, a briliant invention by Devin Kelly, who once placed third in the Gravity Games in street luge racing. It works like a ski brake and stops your snowboard when you get drunk and drop it from the chair lift, or whatever.

To activate the brake, the boot is removed your the binding. A small pin on the end of a recoiling leg strap is pulled from the brake, and the brake is engaged.

To deactivate the brake, the snowboarder places their feet in the bindings and when they are all buckled up they push the brake into the horizontal position and replace the pin.

So yeah, brilliant. All these years of chasing our snowboard down the hill when we forget to strap them on, we could have just been engaging and disengaging a bright orange brake!

  1. Binding ratchets are mounted on the wrong side of the boot. Something tells me this product is short on cred.

  2. whatever, like we need to get any lazier
