Liberty Mountain Snowflex Grand Opening Aug 29
By admin • Jul 27th, 2009 • Category: News
You may remember we had a brilliant post when we first heard about this all about how snow was going to be obsolete. Well, since the internet hates us, that post got deleted and you’ll have to take our word for it. The latest news is the upcoming grand opening celebration. Maybe we’ll send the n00b. Seems like this will sufficiently confuse him.
WHAT: The grand opening of the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre kicks off with a freestyle exhibition, featuring professional riders from the U.S. and U.K. After the extreme expo, attendees can ski, snowboard and tube down Liberty Mountain. Vendors will also be on hand to offer food, sportswear and accessories. This event is open to the media and general public. Media members must RSVP before August 24 by calling (434) 582-FLEX or (866) 504-7541 or emailing snowflex@liberty.edu. For more information please visit www.liberty.edu/snowflex.
WHEN: Saturday, August 29, 2009
WHERE: Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre
Liberty University
1971 University Boulevard
Lynchburg, Virginia 24502
WHY: The Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre, a synthetic surface that simulates snow, caters to snow sport enthusiasts of all levels and is the first year-round facility in the U.S. composed of Snowflex. The vision behind LU’s high-performance ski slope began nearly four years ago when the university looked at creative ways to utilize its 5,000-acre mountain property. Upon its debut, this innovative terrain park will provide skiing, snowboarding and tubing for LU students and the general public. It will also be the home of the LU snowboard and ski teams.

YoBeat: Making Fun of Snowboarding Since 1997

I’m sufficiently confused as-is!
Check this out if you want to see a video about snowflex in lynchburg
This was a pretty neat site
I tried out the Snowflex mountain at Liberty University. It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go back. It’s too bad it isn’t a longer run, but it was easy to get right back up the mountain on the lift. The jumps are fabulous and you can really get a lot of air. One of the nicest things is that falls don’t hurt as much as real snow due to the padded surface. It doesn’t grip the same as snow, but is amazingly similar in many respects. Wear long sleeve shirt, long pants and gloves. The surface is a bit abrasive and can give you nasty rashes on exposed skin.
