Firing Squad: November 3, 2009
By Tim Zimmerman • Nov 3rd, 2009 • Category: Photo BattleIt’s been asked, “Where the hell is last week’s winner landing?” Well, if that’s the case then this week’s challenger is going to look like a quantum physics equation to you. If you’re feeling especially hungover or are just generally slow we’d suggest you sit this week out. If you understand gravity then by all means, pick the photo that makes your brain hurt the least.
The Champ

The Challenger

Which one is less painful?
- The Champ (41.0%, 120 Votes)
- The Challenger (33.0%, 97 Votes)
- These both suck (26.0%, 78 Votes)
Total Voters: 295
Think you can do better? Then quit your bitching. The Firing Squad is a weekly photo competition. Winners of a single battle will receive a pair of Da Kine gloves and should a photo survive 4 weeks, the photographer receives a place in the Champions Gallery and a Da Kine Camera Pack. To enter your own photo in the Firing Squad, check out our submission guidelines.

YoBeat: Making Fun of Snowboarding Since 1997

Why are any of these even here? They’re both shit. So many good shots are eliminated and so many shitty shots win. Start thinking before you vote guys!
I’m sittin this one out.
Yobeat should make a option for voting “they both suck” and if it gets more votes then the photos then they should have 2 new photos the next week.
That’s actually a great idea
ive just stopped voting
yeah just make sure these photos dont make it either
excellent idea distracting. these both suck. a lot.
Adding “These Both Suck” option …
I’m going to make a prediction … Due to the giant ego of every snowboarder on the planet, the “These Both Suck” option will win every single week.
i think we just need to expect a little more out of our audience, it’s not just the photog who needs a little creativity, the viewer also needs to exercise their imagination a little to understand what’s happening in a photo. if you take two seconds and really look around, it’s not that hard to tell what’s going on. don’t get angry because you’re too ignorant to understand someone’s message.
I feel honored to be involved in the inaugural “they both suck” option.
If I hadn’t personally been to the location of photo #2 before, this picture would make me think it’s a real pussy rail, not a harsh 20/flat/20 with a shitty runway. This is a creative approach to it, but when a rider is totally risking it for a photo, give them the credit they deserve and show it’s entire scene and dramatize what a viewer isn’t aware of.
Sometimes you gotta mix up your art fag with a little journalistic style.
Can we get a snowboard shot without a million flashes going off?
Neon, money, cash, hoes, flashes, son. word to YOUR mother.
i just pressed the these both suck for fun
time and a place for flashes but i think these both call for flashes
champ is wearing a helmet for a 10 foot drop into SNOW. i know this isn’t a trick contest but grow some balls. at least Lagos is honored to be part of the “they both suck” club.
It was a shot for Bern Helmets if that matters…
Making fun of someone for wearing a helmet makes you a douche. Do you have that fresh and clean feeling?
I have to go with the champ here. Despite the total gnar factor of that rail in the second photo, and the lackluster life risking in photo 1, the Champs composition is much better. The palette is more cohesive, the feature is clearly displayed, even if it lacks a definitive run in run out view, you get the idea. The second pic looks like a picture of some trees that the shredder happened to be sliding through. Bob is on point with his critique. No need to poke a heavy rail with your art-on. Whether the champs photo is the wildest snowboarding you have ever seen doesn’t matter, it aesthetically pleasing and well composed.
poke that leg champ!
you guys are all so full of shit. the thing i hate most about snowboarding is that no matter what you do, people will talk shit, even if they themselves, suck dick at snowboarding. I’m betting that 95% of you don’t even own a camera or half the equipment required to take either of these shots and that 95% of you don’t have the balls to do either of these tricks. GO FUCK YOURSELVES, the pics aren’t that bad, snowboarding is about fun and progression, not talking shit anonymously through your little computer
Dear whaa, fuck you kid. snowboarding isn’t about fun and progression, this isn’t rollerblading. snowboarding is actually ALL ABOUT making fun of people, including yourself. i dunno, maybe your mouth was sore from sucking too much dick when you wrote your angry little sensitive rant. i hope you feel better now, princess.
Zimmerman needs a glass of milk, what a lil bitch.
Sorry Zimmerman I didn’t mean that.. I talk lots of shit but don’t have a portfolio to back it up so you will have to believe me when i say that i am better then EVERYONE at snowboarding, taking photos and of course… sucking the cock.
i like the challengers photo.
Wow! Amazed again at the shit that comes out of peoples mouths.
portfolios dont mean shit, snowboarding is for spoiled rich white people (for the most part), and i am sitting next to the real mike.
mike didn’t claim any of that. he was making fun of funny things. isn’t that what this site is all about? its funniest when people get butt hurt cause they take this shit serious.
be a man, go skateboarding!
i can’t believe the champ one last week. yall suckers for sunsets
This week hurts. Why is this even a choice? JP’s shot wins hands down. I just pressed they both suck because, in my honest opinion, it isn’t champions gallery material. But seriously? The challenger is a D-Roll shot at best. You guys need to run my shot of Lane Knaack nailing the cement mixer at Kingvale next week. That deserves to go up against this champ alot more than the challenger here.
i kinda like challenger.. next time bring a saw and cut down that tree between tree’s 1 and 2.. then the photo would be dope.
True words darcy, it’s not a bad shot except for the fact that the framing between the trees takes away from the quality of the photo and, honestly, makes the rider in the shot look more like an accident. Maybe if they back-flashed him to give him a bit more pop it’d be cool with the trees, but he just sort of blends into the shadows.
I wasnt gonna vote for either until i realized that the champ is Lagos. Now im def. voting for the challenger. Wacramento d-bag.
Plus its hilarious how many different names Robbie Sell is using in the same post
The framing in photo #2 is a bit too distracting. Photo #1 is better.
pretty sure zimmerman and robbie just said everything that needs to be said about these photos
HAHA Wacramento d-bag…
Hey rick, come by my house in Kings Beach and I’ll give you a kiss on the cheek
Oh shit Lagos, you live in KB?? That’s North Lake Tahoe’s south-central man!
hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate
lets see some pictures of snowboarders with some style, a non-boned out indy off a little bomb drop, WOOO!!! 50-50 with scared girl arms, nice…how about some good boned out spins or arms below your head.
How bout some gnar boned tail twist man? Seriously dude, we need amp up the extreme factor on the bomb pop over the tubular X-Games
The extreme factor here is brent meyers style in the first photo.
I like the comments more than the photo competition these days.
-Rick Deez. Only one name, man.
yobeat should have the player hater’s ball, just have an article and give different topics for people to talk shit about, because that’s practically what most stuff on snowboard websites are nowadays anyway. it would be a nice, fun way for everyone that spends more times looking at mags than shredding, and knows everything, to let out some hate. fun for the whole family
Hey Derka, that’s why we installed a forum. Hit it up! yobeat.com/forum
