YoBeat Banned from Vermont!

December 28, 2009. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE–

After multiple offenses involving “free speech” and the use of social media such as Twitter, the state of Vermont has asked YoBeat founder Brooke Geery to never return to the Green Mountains. Though Brooke lived in Vermont for over 17 years with few incidents, during the 2009 calendar year Ms. Geery managed to alienate not only a major employer in Burlington, Vt, but most recently the biggest ski area in the east.

Killington’s Media Coordinator Tom Horrocks was called to action after YoBeatdotcom issued a tweet on December 27, 2009 reading,

Horrocks issued the following tweet in response,

Since Horrocks had already attempted to restrict Ms. Geery from the slopes of Killington by not granting a media comp, only to have her purchase a ticket and get great enjoyment from the terrain parks and snow conditions, as evidenced by this video, it was obvious to the state of Vermont, something more drastic must be done.

“Ms. Geery has repeatedly proven that she is a liability to the industries that make our great state tick,” Vermont governor Jim Douglass said in a press statement issued this morning. “As I am not a ‘tweeterer’ I cannot really understand what the fuss is about, however, we feel this is the best and most logical solution to this problem.”

The state of Vermont was initially hesitant to ban the entire staff of YoBeat, especially given the site’s roots in the state, but upon further inspection, it was determined YoBeat’s staff photographer Tim Zimmerman had actually thrown further fuel on the fire with a “Retweet” and accordingly, anyone who’s ever done anything for YoBeat will not be allowed across state lines as a precautionary measure. Additionally, all bridges into the state of Vermont from neighboring New York will be destroyed. This morning, the Champlain Bridge was the first to fall.

Ms. Geery was escorted out of the state this morning, and will return to Portland, OR, where she will no longer be able to do any harm. Ms. Geery was not able to be reached for comment.
