Firing Squad: February 9, 2010

By Tim Zimmerman • Feb 9th, 2010 • Category: Latest, Photo Battle

The issue with shooting snowboarding is all the damn white everywhere. White on the ground, white in the trees, half the time even the sky is white. The lack of color can really get you down. But this week’s battle is all about color. The champ has color thanks to the setting sun and the challenger thanks to some kooky old person who decided to paint their house purple. So let’s all be happy and pick which you like better.

  1. did the challenger’s rider survive the drop? the landing looks like a nice crash

  2. is the challengers taken at an awkward moment or is it me?

  3. really? the both suck button needs to be intact.

  4. challenger this time looks cooler, but i have not much of a clue what the fuck just happened. Looks like his fingers are gonna take it in a sec.

  5. Haha. He’ll be missing fingers and some teeth once he hits that landing.

  6. Yeah i deff snapped the photo a little late. It was only a one time thing so i couldnt get a chance to get a re shot, hence why i sent it in. He actually landed perfect.

  7. oh nosepick is the trick too

  8. I recently shot a similar drop (similar altitude), but we had a bigger landing and my rider had trouble riding off the landing (hi had his head between the knees), hence I can’t believe the rider did not knock over after the landing. It looks like a knee breaker.

  9. Glad to see the reasonably legitimate action is winning. The angle of his board vs. the angle of the landing is hilarious–it adds to the photo in my opinion…just shows you how far off from a smooth setup it is, but dude’s chucking it anyways. Here’s to young knees!

  10. Lame tricks. cool colors. both suck.

  11. Chad Joke Todd great critique.

  12. Henry fucking kills it and so does Cole Martin for shooting such a metal bloodsucking photo. Keeping snowboarding punk.

  13. Sick battle, extreme. really extreme.

  14. what happened to “they both suck”

  15. still not a big fan of the trick or the action in the champ’s photo, but the challenger just looks a touch overexposed to me which detracts from the action.

  16. woulda been sooo much cooler if the tranny on that bottom photo was built against the cement wall!! still got my vote tho.. that champ picture is jus lame.. go skate a mini ramp for that shot..

  17. I’m gonna have to agree with whoever said it last week…let’s get some on-mountain photos in here. Urban photos are sweet but it’s the middle of winter and there should be some pretty good pow and backcountry shots out there.

  18. herehere, amy!

  19. Wow Henry Padden you are wild! Nice pants! Pants.

  20. you guys have it alll wrong… challenger actually just used a spring board and in the he picture is stalling at peak of jump DUHHHH…

  21. Challenger does nothing for me at all. Too distracting and just i dont get the point of it. Champ definately got it.
