hcsc-2nd-ropetow

Last summer, when High Cascade and Windells snowboard camps got rope tows to access their terrain, it was great news for lazy snowboarders everywhere. Well, ok, mostly lazy snowboarders in the US, since up in BC, the camps have always been lift-accessed. And this year there’s even better news, the number of rope tows accessing Mt. Hood-based snowboard camps is up to four! The first word of a new rope tow dropped on March 8, via twitter: High Cascade was stepping it up. The official word:

Last summer when campers shredded High Cascade’s two private parks under the warm Oregon sunshine, they did so via a high speed handle tow in The Main Park™ and via a high-speed quad in The Lap Park™. After the resounding success of adding a private rope tow, for summer 2010 HCSC will unveil a 800-foot long second private rope tow accessing even more terrain.

HCSC camp Director Preston Strout breaks it down like this: “After 20 years in operation, we’ve realized that people prefer getting pulled up the mountain by a machine over walking uphill all day… who knew? We’re putting this revelation to use and doubling the quantity of our pulling machines.”

Considering the fact that HCSC’s pipe is built by Planet Snow Design (builder of the US Open pipe), many people think that this new rope tow should service the halfpipe. What do you think?

Well, since you asked, we think no matter where you put it, it’s going to be a totally kickass season for summer camp, because…

…Today twitter told us there was even more good news for us who prefer to keep our asses fat. Windells secured a second rope tow as well. Since this news is so hot off the presses, we don’t even have a release yet, but check the post on windells.com.
