Out of the haze of snowboard videos that emerge every season, a select few rise above. Some try super hard to make epic videos, and others don’t try hard enough. Sean Genovese and Jesse Burtner at Think Thank use both sides of the brain and this year, it paid off with one of the best videos of the year. I caught up with the right and left brains themselves to get the answers to a few pressing questions Right Brain, Left Brain left me with. -Danny Griffin

Where’s the most fun place you guys went this past season?

(JB): I think my favorite trip was to Red Mountain BC, it was way different than the stuff we normally do, it was weird in a weirder way. That and a week long whirl wind Japan trip with Pika, Milbery, and Jason Robinson was amazing.
(SG): Everywhere. Going with everyone anywhere is usually a good time. Maybe Red Mountain was the tops though for this season.

When you guys went to Japan did you eat a ton of sushi or do you think it’s cat scraps?

(JB): I love sushi, I’ll eat whatever comes in front of me when I’m Japan. You have to live it up when you are in these foreign lands!

Who was in charge of the music for Right Brain/Left Brain?
(JB): Myself, Sean, and Pika all work together getting music rights and bringing songs to the table for consideration.
(SG): We tag team it.

Did anyone get wrecked filming this past season?
(SG): We’re always getting wrecked… most of the time we get to get up and try it again, but not always. I’d say Tim and Edgers got the worst of it this season.
(JB): Tim Eddy got hurt a bunch and his season got cut short, but you probably wont be able to tell because he rode really hard for the time he was healthy.

Did Tim (Eddy) find the features he was looking for?
(JB): He did find them and he got rad ass on them!
(SG): Tim gets ‘em all. The feature creature.

How old is Larson now? Is he still bad to the bone?
(SG): 12 going on 30. Bad ass mother fucker.
(JB): I think he’s 19 and he is badder than ever, hopefully not too bad, stay tuned.

Does Gus (Engle) still slack on taking showers?
(SG): He took a shower last time I saw him… but it could’ve been a while before that.
(JB): Yeah he stinks and gets sick because of his lack of hygiene.

Did Gus ever go back to the rail gardens ledge and get that kickflip?
(JB): No, I think he is scarred for life from that experience.

Does Johnny Miller still eat red vines and jump on the weirdest rails known to man?
(SG): The weirdest man known to rails still eat red vines… but maybe the black ones now instead.
(JB): Johnny eats dick and is known to jump on weird men’s rails.

Is Ben Bogart still dead broke or is he getting to the money?
(SG): Can’t keep Bogy down.

Has Scott Stevens combined his celebratory dances and front flips yet?

(JB). No, but he should, that’s a great idea. Scott killed it this year, ridiculous.

Were there any new guys that filmed with Think Thank this season?
(JB): Jason Robinson filmed a full part, he’s insane. Jess (Danger Pony) Kimura filmed a part, she is also insane. And Austen Granger the missing Massachusetts link is actually insane and filmed with us.

Do you guys do anything to get right before editing or do you just go for it?

(JB): No real special ritual or anything just make sure your head is in the right place before you start laying clips down, be excited or angry or interested, however you want the part to turn out you have to feel that particular emotion.
(SG): Cross our fingers and let the deliriousness kick in.

What do you do when you’re not editing or riding?
(JB): Think Thank is pretty all consuming of my time, but I like to kick with the old ball and chain, Pika, go skateboard, bounce on the trampoline, go to movies, work at the Alaska State Fair selling Salmon Quesadillas.
(SG): Party.

  4. Not at all bitter about Johnny filming with Justin! I love Johnny, he is the man, one of my favorite all time snowboarders and a good friend. I just said that because we always say weird stuff like that, it’s what you would call “an inside joke”.
