It’s dumping here in Oregon, and the locals are getting restless. So it’s a good thing word just went out that Mt. Hood Meadows will officially open on Saturday. However, this directly violates our “no weekend” policy, which means, we’ll be there Monday! Here’s the official info on lifts and what not:
Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort will kick off the 2010 — 2011 season Saturday, November 20. A powerful winter storm dropped two feet of snow on the resort in 24 hours increasing the base area snow depth to 40 inches with more snow forecast before Saturday.
Resort officials say that’s good coverage for November, but caution that early season conditions exist and guests should expect unmarked obstacles and as always ski and ride with care.
A limited number of lifts will operate from 9 AM — 4 PM — resort officials the exact number of lifts schedule and pricing Friday afternoon. Operations are expected to continue daily for the season. More lifts and terrain will be opened as the resort receives more snow.
The resort will have restaurants, ski and snowboard school, daycare, sports shops, demo and rental centers operating. Meadows Parks crew is also setting rails and building jumps on “The Zoo” and “Shipyard” freestyle terrain parks.
