Well this is it, the final week for our Champ. Will this shot join the previously inducted photos in the Champions Gallery, or is the challenger’s perfect pow slash enough to take it down. No jokes about twigs or fluffy pow this week, this is serious business people, so vote!

The Ride Shakedown is the place to be in the Northwest right now. Previously a “Canadian” thing, the mayhem shred fest landed stateside on March 12, 2010 at the Summit at Snoqualmie. After the nighttime rail shredding was done, Austin Hironaka and Izzy Lalive took top honors for their stunts, and Zimmerman was there to catch it all on pixels. Today, though, the real show goes down. Get pumped.

Natural elements can be great additions to a standard jump shot. This week, both photographers made use of branches to add extra interest to their photos. In the champ’s shot the twig is small, while the challenger’s used a much, much bigger twig. Now you decide which stick of wood is more effective.

There are plenty of ways to use and enjoy powder. For example, you can slash it or you can jump into it with little consequence. Either way, you feel like a hero, and there’s potential for a great photo to come out of it. So while these two photos have little in common other than they are both snowboarding, on snow, you can be jealous cause you are voting on a stupid photo battle right now and not out there riding the stuff. Now choose.

Anyone ever heard the story of the boy who cried wolf? That’s sort of how we feel about the omnipresent requests for non-urban shots in these photo battles. Because let’s face it, if/when we start running epic pow slashes, you’ll all complain about how you miss techy rail tricks. And besides, we’ve got no shortage of well-matched urban (or suburban) action to match up. So this week, come up with a new gripe, or just enjoy the shots and pick your favorite.

The issue with shooting snowboarding is all the damn white everywhere. White on the ground, white in the trees, half the time even the sky is white. The lack of color can really get you down. But this week’s battle is all about color. The champ has color thanks to the setting sun and the challenger thanks to some kooky old person who decided to paint their house purple. So let’s all be happy and pick which you like better.

Who would have ever thought a voting scandal would hit the YoBeat Firing Squad? I guess that makes it at least as important as the 2000 election, perhaps more so. But for whoever hacked it, chaptcha has officially been added and the votes should now be as legit as any Internet contest can be. Our continuing champ will have to rely on nothing but the quality of his photo to out do his new opponent. Does it cut it? You decide.

After a the heated Ultimate Champions battle, we’re happy to get back into regular battles. Then again, this isn’t just a regular battle because this one is for the Champion’s Gallery, and eventually an Ultimate Champion’s Battle of the future. It may be hard to remember two weeks ago, but our Champ’s handplant has been dominating, so for this week, a mellow, lit up log jib seems like it will make for a fun competitor. So send someone to victory or stop them in their tracks, it’s up to you.

You know how your mom always told you not to stare directly into the sun or you’d go blind? Well this week’s photographers never got that memo. Disregard for your vision can also can make for some interesting shots if you know what you are doing. Aside from the sun though, these two shots are about as different as you can get, so you get to decide what makes the better shot. Up close and personal or wide and dramatic. Vote.
