The THAT'S TOO BAD Files
So I'm sitting at the eye doctor, reading People, when what do I come across but a picture of snowboarding. Later the scene is quite similar, only I'm at my kitchen table reading Teen. Here I find an article about skateboarding. "So," you may say, "these sports are big-time now, it's no surprise that you'd find them in such publications," but these need special mention. First the snowboard photo from People. Yep, that's Courtney Love. Yep, she's wearing a pink bra with an undershirt over it, suspenders and has her sweater unbuttoned. The worst part is, I'll bet she's sponsored. Next, the skateboard exhibit. This is a story about some Teen Magazine intern's trip to All Girl Skate Camp. One of the best things about the article was the headline, which read "Skate Jam- no you can't spread it on toast." Another highlight was when the author referred to transitions as "fakies." I could certainly go on for hours witch more examples of how big-time snowboarding and skateboarding are, and how easy it is for them to be misrepresented, but I really don't care. I just found these particular examples to be quite humorous, and thought I'd share. They really are too bad. |
