The Wildcats' Revenge

Once again I have been showed that people don't like it when you make fun of them, especially not the greeks. Recently I called a group of Canadian Snowboarders a Fraternity (and not in the most positive manner), and let's just say, they were less than stoked. However, in the words of an unnamed industry insider, "They are [a fraternity], a bunch of drunks with nice clothes." Still, I figure I'll let them have a say in the matter to. Here's what I got:

  • My name is Peter Andersen, and I am a member of the Wildcats you speak so poorly of. You seem to think that we are a group of fraternity fags that do nothing but booze, and that we do not actually snowboard. There are Thirteen members of the Cats. All of which are professional snowboarders. So obviously we snowboard more than you think. We are so proud of our "Team" because we feel that after dealing with Industry garbage for so long we are finaly able to ride with our friends, when we want and where we want. We are about having a lot of fun on and off the hill. Kind of like when we first started snowboarding. But somehow it got to the point where we would only snowboard if there were two photographers and a filmer, and it had to be a pristine bluebird day with 2 feet of fresh. What I am getting at, is that we ride together because we want to, not because some overwieght marketing executive decided that we made a pretty good "Team" and they liked our image. As for our standards that you feel no one can live up to, I would like to think that because we actually go up the hill to have fun, many of the kids in the Vancouver area see that you have fun first and then worry about how cool their new coat is, or isn't, later(hopefully never). We all put a lot of time and effort back into the local riders to make sure they do not grow up into skewed industry whores. Anyway I hope you do a little more
research next time before you shit talk about people. I can assure you that most people are not as easygoing in this industry as we are.

P.S. If you can name the thirteen Wildcats within the next week and e-mail it to me. I will buy

  • My concern is that you aren't being consistant. You big up the Wildcats on Bluetorch and then tear us down on Yobeat. It's disappointing to meet someone who's down (at Rob's house) and
then have you turn around on the Cats like that. Granted it's your opinion and I respect that, but I'm not sure it's really necessary to be negative towards something that I see as positive. It is incorrect to say that no one can live up to the cat's standards - where did you get that from? And its certainly incorrect information to say that half of the cats don't even snowboard - you posted the list, the riders you don't recognize work on the industry side of things. I don't mind that you refer to us as a frat, but I do mind when you associate us with the negative aspects of one. Yes, we're a bunch of friends that snowboard and party together, and we have shirts and stuff, but we never shut people out of group, never once have we turned someone away from partying. We don't look down on anyone else - quite the opposite. We have the a profound respect for most riders in snowboarding.  All we'd like to represent is the fun that snowboarding and friends can be. We have the same passion and love for the sport as anyone else. For me, the stoke is still like the first day I strapped on a board. But the stoke gets burned out when people are negative towards me and my friends. It's fine that you targetted industry related corporateness and all that other bullshit, but why would you target fellow riders. Does skateboarding persecute the Red Dragons for having a friend-based team? I don't think so. In fact, more people back it cause it stems from the riders and their love for the sport. I just wish that you could see that in us. There's enough negative vibes in the snowboarding industry, please don't create more.

    Peace. Wildcats out.
