The Ride Shakedown is the place to be in the Northwest right now. Previously a “Canadian” thing, the mayhem shred fest landed stateside on March 12, 2010 at the Summit at Snoqualmie. After the nighttime rail shredding was done, Austin Hironaka and Izzy Lalive took top honors for their stunts, and Zimmerman was there to catch it all on pixels. Today, though, the real show goes down. Get pumped.

Logic would tell you the first few sessions of snowboard camp are they way to go (that snow stuff melts handily during the summer) but in 2009, Session 5 was especially rad. Thanks mostly to the America’s Next Top Pro Model contest, everyone who’s anyone was there. We heard every session five camper got their free stickers signed by pros, which is why people go to snowboard camp, right?

The Ride Shakedown is underway at the Summit at Snoqualmie. Last night the rail best trick happened, with Izzy Lalive taking it for the women with a 50-50 to front 180 out and a switch boardslide. For the men, Austin Hironaka held it down in true Northwest style, hitting up a pillar made of cable spools and stomping a Miller Flip tail grab. The big show is today though, and good news, it’s live, on the internet! Fuel.tv will be webcasting it, which means you can enjoy without getting wet or being there. The action starts at 2 pm.

Maybe that double double was good for something, Iouri Podladtchikov got the highest score in Winter X Superpipe history… except of course, the only other person who can do it wasn’t there. Full pipe results and the women’s slopestyle broke down like this:

Hola! Nikita are already planning the next photoshoot for the Spring Summer 2011 look book. Packing up and heading out from 23rd April 2010, the Nikita crew and team are hitting up North West Mexico. If you feel you got the look or want to recommend a friend because you think ‘she’s got the look’ like Swedish pop duo Roxette sang in the late 80’s, then now is the time to reveal who you are and rápido!

Nikita are offering two places for two special senoritas to feature as a model in the forthcoming prized look book for next Spring Summer’s streetwear collection. You will be picked from the piñata, contacted and flown out to join everyone on the shoot. Only enter if you’re free to travel from 23rd April to 8th May 2010!

Earthquakes, poverty, internet haters and all sorts of stuff is currently ravaging this great planet.  What does Todd Richards think of this downward decline? Can he save us? Well, obviously not because he’s just an aging father of two, but he sure can make us laugh about it. 

Two earthquakes in 2010, is this a sign of the end of days? 

I have recently started living my life like Dec 21, 2012 is the end of time. For instance just today I sat on a public toilet seat without using that tissue paper stuff.

If “the big one” hit southern California which So-Cal based snowboard company would you hope it destroyed first?

Oh man, Bitch Boards for sure. Quit your bitchin’ and get back in the kitchen. These views do not represent my real views just my online personal views. Yes this is so I don’t get a black eye from my wife

Would you rather die as a wrinkly old man, or see the end of the world?

Oh I think that seeing the end of days would be the major water-coolor conversation on the other side. So yes, I would take seeing the end of days. “So Dan did you see Lost the other night?”  ”Yeah Pete, it was almost as good as when we saw the end of days that one time.” Where this conversation would be taking place and if Lost is still something that we would talk about is still up for debate.

What combination of natural disasters do you think would look the coolest?  

A volcanic mudslide with a scorching hot wind. Kind of like my butt after bad Mexican food but like magnified. Like picture an ant on the receiving end of bad Mexican food.

Please pick a snowboarder to nickname natural disaster, and a trick. Why did you pick those two things? 

Oh natural disaster is Nate bozung for sure. The trick I would choose is the half backflip to darkside back lip. I just confused myself.

All this time I’ve been going to the newsstand for the latest news in music, art and entertainment, but apparently there is this thing called the “Internet” where everyone is “blogging” about it. Everyone, including Justin Timberlake (read: Justin Timberlake’s staff), and the latest post on jt.com is an interview with a man taking the art world by storm: Travis Rice (perhaps you’ve heard of him.) From the intro — “Boarder Travis Rice is the type of dude who can make linebacker-sized men pee themselves and/or scream like girls” — you know it’s going to be good.
