Last summer I went to high cascade which was sick, but spending time in govy was kinda boring because I dont skate. Would camp of champions be more fun off hill since its in whistler. Also, can u actually get a little crazy in whistler if you go to camp of champions or would you get in trouble by COC? Does windells have more fun off snow non-skate activities than hcsc?
February 3, 2013 at 11:01 am #47795Camp of champs had a decent amount of stuff you can do other than skate. I don’t know much about Windells but COC has different activities with pros that you can sign up for everyday. Whistler is also a pretty cool town with places with good food.
February 3, 2013 at 5:53 pm #47859I have a friend that’s gone two years in a row and he doesn’t skate, this coming year he has finally decided to just buy a week lift pass and COC accommodation but bail on the coaching/compound package because it’s boring as fuck if you don’t skate. They do have a mini dry slope but it’s lame, and the “launcher” as they call it is beyond sketchy. The skate park at COC sucks balls anyway. Basically anything else you want to do in the evening with the camp will cost you extra.
Whistler is a bumping town, if you’re a nature kinda guy (this is for any mountain town) just go for a walk along the river or go hiking somewhere in the evening. If not that, bars everywhere, fast food, basically all the conveniences of a big town.
That said, I just started skating this year and even though I suck shit it’s still fun and I highly recommend it. You don’t have to be able to do flip tricks, just cruising around the park can be fun too.

February 5, 2013 at 9:28 pm #48002well judging by your username you’re 16, so unless you have friends who are 19 in Whistler and you aren’t officially at the camp and just doing a park pass thing I doubt you’ll be able to “party”. I think if you stay at the COC accommodations and you aren’t even fully signed up for camp (just the accommodation + park pass) you still have a curfew if you’re a minor or something.
Despite snowboard camps making disgusting profits they don’t want to have any law suits so yea, I doubt you’d be able to roam free at night type deal.
DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A SNOWBOARD CAMP. THAT SHIT IS EXPENSIVE AS HELL. TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. I BASICALLY KNOW SHIT ALL.

it was a lot of fun, especially being over 19. they are staying in the village this year, not at staff housing. there is a sick skatepark, but you can paintball, golf, bungee jump, trampoline everyday with different pros
