Gossip

The 97-98 season seems to be abruptly drawing to a close, leading us to believe that Mother Nature is going through menopause and taking it all out on us. El Nino stoked us east coasters out at first, forcing all of us to desert the half pipe and attempt to ride powder, but then somewhere around January, it all went downhill. First it iced, then it rained, then it iced some more. Then it would snow, and get devastatingly warm, melting everything but the dirt.  While this may sound like a typical eastern season, it really managed to be worse than usual.  Even Killington, who calls themselves a four season resort just because they remain open with a few dirt moguls until June 21st, will be lucky if they make it to Memorial Day. I'm also having a hard time believing that Stratton will have anywhere near enough snow to have a pipe May 25th.

However, we here on the east coast are not the only ones who got burned.  I think Utah is enjoying dirt, as well as most of Canada.  Of course those bro-brah bastards at Mammoth are going to be riding until August, but we already hated them.  So in conclusion, I really have no gossip this month, except that Morrow, in an attempt to be more like Ride, went public with their stocks and lost some 7 million dollars, leading us the believe that Todd Richards might be looking for a new sponsor soon, so I decided to go on this little rant about the evils of El Nino. Sorry to waste your time.
