A tale of a season that just isn't happening...

On the east coast, we have to wait until January for it to snow.   On the west coast, they have snow all year round.  I'm not bitter. Blackholm, BC. Photo: Brooke Geery

Here's another example of snow in July.  I swear, I don't really like snow, the east coast rules! Mt. Baker, WA.  Photo: Brooke Geery

See, cause we might not have snow in December, but at least we have rainbows.  Killington Valley, VT.  Photo Seth Butler.

And when we can't snowboard, we can skateboard.  Shawn Carpenter over a gap in Bardnard, Vt.  I didn't even know there was pavement in Barnard.   Photo: Seth Butler

Jerry Tucker can kill it when there's snow or when there's not, cause he's pretty cool. Woburn, Ma. Photo: Seth Butler.

ZACKLEACH.JPG (41859 bytes)The true beauty of snowboarding when there's no snow is railslides, because all you need is a small patch of snow, a rail, and a little creativity.  Take, for example, this early season example at Stowe. On your left, Zach Leach isn't even embarassed that his goggles match the pair of skis in the foreground.  Below Eerik Ilves takes one of the last runs on his board before some vandals stole it.  Photos: Tim Zimmerman.EERIKILVES.JPG (35914 bytes)

And then there's Shawn Durst.  He's from Pennsylvania, so he'll go upside down even if the landing is dirt.  Killington, Vt. Photo: Tim Zimmerman

All in all, our season is bound to start any day now...
