Vilification
This is my list of things that make me laugh:
ESPN-
So I watched the X Games, all of them, even the ice climbing.
Then I realized that all the results are on SOL and I wasted
my time, but here's why I found it so funny. It doesn't matter what trick you do, just how
well you did last year, and Kevin Jones is the funniest
snowboarder alive(and as it turns out, he's running for Mayor here in scenic Rutland, VT).
No matter what the riders say, I don't think the annoucers were even aware they were being
mocked. Pure comedy gold.
Norm Macdonald- Dirty Work might just be one
of the funniest movies ever made.
Other people's misfortune- I'm an asshole, what can I say.
Blatant Stupidity- If you don't understand, I'm probably laughing at you
right now.
The fact that people actually read Yo Beat- Come on, I don't even read
most of it.
When non snowboard magazine write articles about snowboarding- Check out
the new Cosmo (Motto: For Women who like to fuck). Inside you
will find an article on Barrett Christy, on of Cosmo's 12 Fun
Fearless Females of 1998. Barrett earned this honor for being a "Stelar
Snowboarder" and her "Ability to get 'Big Air' (snowboarder jargon for a
sky-high jump)". They then go on to explain that halfpipe is a "ramp" and
big air is a "jump." Wow. Then we turn a few pages later, to their February
calendar. On the 13th the suggest you "Do something really extreme- try
snowboarding."
When non snowboard related companies use snowboarding to sell their products-
Let's see, Mt. Dew, Sprite (although that ad is actually kid
of good, nothing compared to 1-800-Tall Men), Pioneer, etc.
Let's face it, extreme sports sell.
That ASC might be purchased by a dog food company- Since Les Otten, the man behind the American Skiing
Company's lack of success can no longer foot the bills, the entire ASC, or maybe just Killington is up
for sale. Possible purchasers include InterWest (the company
that owns Stratton) and Purina Dog Cow.
I hope Purina buys it, then we can be like Korea, where they make everything cool, and all mountains are owned
by electronics companies.
I know something Chris Copley doesn't- Sorry, that's all I'm allowed to say.
Quote of the day-
"Once you turn pro you get to stop" -Jeremy Jones on snowboarding.
